I do not really know about how horse production feels ingame, as I mostly
avoided giving them any when playing,
Likewise. I am playing a game at about 1750, and find that most
settlements that have access to horses have mounted several braves,
but not necessarily all. This seems about right to me.
but I mostly felt they got a large surplus of food, fur, sugar, tobacco,
cotton
That too is what I was hoping for. The intent is that raw materials
should always be reasonably available from the natives, but they have few
manufactured goods, thus maximizing the opportunity to trade profitably.
Food is a bit trickier --- we want a lot on hard difficulties and less on
easy ones, and thus far that is mainly regulated by the tile production
variations. However, we have complaints in both directions --- too many
and too few natives, so I am not particularly concerned here.

BTW, thanks for the work on BR#2580. I am glad to see that fixed before
the release. Speaking of which, play testing time has been somewhat
limited, but now we have a long weekend so I hope to track down a couple
of remaining things I wanted to check. If that goes well, I propose to
work on the release next weekend.

Cheers,
Mike Pope
